The tiny creature could only lay at their feet. Only the faintest of sounds were pulled in by her wet and drooping ears...voices and words...it was to difficult to hear, even if she could understand them.
There was a warm touch against the paleness of her small body. It was a comfort in this strange and unknown world, and with a wobbly head she reached out into the darkness as if searching, hoping, for more. There was only the empty darkness. Two small golden slivers tried to peek out from behind her soft eyelids. It was lighter then... but blurry, so blurry.
Shapes and curves grew larger, coming closer. As Hypatia's waters came over the small body, it fizzled and popped with steam that rose higher and higher into the night.
The creature's eyelids grew heavier and heavier, but she fought against it, still trying to grasp onto the blurry patches of light and and dark that surrounded her. Her sides rose and fell in the smallest of breaths, fast at first but gradually slowing to an even tempo. She made a noise, something akin to the squeak of a mouse, just before her head finally dropped back to the sandy ground beneath her.
She would sleep. Comforted by the strange masses which surrounded her... so unknowing that by the time those hazy morning hues give way to light, one of those shapes would be gone...
