for even to think wrongly
is better than not to think at all."
The Elementals have now made her life awkward.
Eww! Hypatia! Seriously! Kail’s eyes close and he almost trips over his own paws beside her. That’s nasty! His tongue rolls out and he refuses to look into his companion’s mind. Hypatia sighs. She’s not trying to think about it – but, but…it’s there!
Oh, god.
“Ah, water?” She tries to sound casual, but it comes out a little choked. Ash puffs from her nostrils. She takes a tendril from the water she was drinking and lets it float before them both, winding it into a tiny ball. It floats towards his droplets, her dancing twirl wrapping around the ball as well. Her eyes are focused, and Kail helps her steady herself. Water feels unusual to her still. It cools her water, and when she is impatient, seems to give her endless life. She wonders if it will chill her veins, her fire seems to be overflowing. Hypatia has had a love. But not like this kind of love. A love that was like a missing part of her soul. But he’s gone. Died. A long time ago now. He was her darkness.
“I was tested in water. Tried to make myself stronger.” She remembers the hatred of the water and the feeling of her flames being doused. “I never knew this Relic would give me Water.” A short laugh erupts from her lips, and she looks briefly at Kail. Then had been through a lot. But not enough. “I can help you train, if you want. We can practice.”
She follows the patterns of his thoughts. He very well could run of to Solira. It’s a much better place for those with Water. “Solira, I ruled there too. Briefly.” So brief, in fact, that it was hardly worth mentioning. “The crown has a curse on it. Solira itself seems to be cursed.” Her head shakes, and she remembers loyalty to the Ocean. “I hated it there though.” Her eyes alight to Sterling, and they are pure molten lava. Her body seems to be turning red itself. “You can imagine why.”
He stutters, and she wants to blush. “I have to protect everyone.” Way to play it off, ‘patia. Her companion rolls his eyes at her and yawns. “It is my only duty. Not as Queen, but as Guardian. To have none of my people as slaves. And if they are, to watch them, to make them turn back.” There is endless darkness with the shards, and her body is tense and her eyes distant as she thinks about it.
“Shards are bad. There is one in Andarin. But there are also two Relics. Fenrisulf has my opposite.” She laughs at that image: fire her opposite. “Fire to my Water. Wyvern had it once.” Her voice goes cold, and the fire of her body dims.
“Yes, Relics are the Good.” Renata springs to mind (all this old thoughts, all these people who left her!) “But we all have good and bad inside of us. The Element is made up of both.”
A wolf calls to them both. She knows he has been taken from her. By that stupid son-of-a-b###h spy.
“Have fun in Andarin.”
Come back.
