Huyana on January 13, 2009, 1:54 am, in reply to "huyana" Huyana’s water flares within her, spreading to all of her nerves in its own attempt to sooth her usually calm and collected demeanor. It works, especially now that her water had become stronger. Although, it was the attraction to Fantome’s element that really settled the birds still flying wildly within her. Her water always enjoyed the presence of its fellow element. Huyana offered a frail smile, her eyes creeping from behind their guarded expressions to prove warm and welcoming in their aureate depths.

His thoughts interrupt her. The sounds is like a buzzing background noise of his voice, and it all means so very little to her, the fragmented memories and inner workings that zip around her mind’s eye. Huyana reels away from the voices, unaccustomed to their presence, not wanting them constantly. Her natural curiosity triggered the new ability whether she was aware of it or not. She would be the opposite of most, having to learn how to shut it off rather than summon it. It was irony that once she could read minds she no longer sought too. She’d had her own intruded upon too many times now to hold the same greed she had upon first hearing about it. Rune would have admonished her for growing soft, he would have loved such a talent. She thought she would have too, and she was cruel enough to ignore the recoiling reactions she might receive from probing around thoughts. But she detested the simplicity of it. The mystery, the challenge, that’s what made her fight so hard to learn – this was dull.
The thoughts ceased as he spoke. It was a good distraction and Huyana focused on his actual voice, her teeth chewing on her cheek in habit. His words interested her, perhaps more than he would have liked. Why had he left, why did he prefer one land or one leader over another. Huyana had never understood how everyone switched herds so easily. Well, she understood, her loyalties were always laid in individuals rather than groups or lands. Perhaps she too would shift some day, though she thought with vanity, she did not imagine the desert would ever allure her, she would wither without the rain or the sea. ”Why.” She asked softly, now closer to his side, less afraid. ”Why did you leave… why do so many leave and shift. I learn their names in time to watch them go. I had been born into a world that regarded loyalty above all else, this world confuses me sometimes.” She sighed softly, honest in her confession. In the Path of the Moon, if you left your herd it was unlikely the other would take you in, not wanting traitors and usually at war with the opposite herd anyway. The herds here accepted so easily and ignored the deserters, and yet were they not all locked in war as well? Each struggling for power.
”Curiosity. It drives me everywhere. It is good to know about the world, about the lands and the people close by. It is better to see from all angles and meet everyone that I can – only then will I truly learn. Solira has much to teach me, but alone it will never suffice.”
