He moves across the sands, his sands. As they have become so familiar to him. He was moved idly across its vastness. In a state that was neither bored or intrigued. He was simply in a lull. A place of neutrality, a place of nothing. And it is here Memphis rests, it is here Memphis has always been. A nothing in this world. A lull in general and with all its meaning. He doesn’t seek his father, or his mother today. For he has failed to find them many times. The lurker, Lebanon was as she always was. Loving him absently, but loving him more then she ever thought she could. So she strays far away, because he is her newest weakness. He is hers in every way, and for that she hates him. And why his Spy mother eludes him. And for this he hates her. Lebanon is the pit of his fire, and Baraqels burning brilliantly next to it. He doesn’t care, so he doesn’t think of him. A father he has never known or met, a father who hasn’t even attempted to see his second son. Same goes for his older brother, Cyan. Or the rest of his family. Then Era crosses his mind, and once again his mind goes blank. Her-the only family he feels anything for, the only family that makes him feel like he belongs, oh where are you Era? His coat is damp as sweat builds between the odd bends of his body. The smutty palomino, if that’s what you’d call it. Holding the darkest and lightest of browns and blacks across his body. But it is obvious, at least in some ways the boy was golden. His fire pushes through him and his almost white mane and tail burn like fire as it flickers across his skin. White fire, he is the light within the darkness. But the darkness itself. And still he wades through the sands, alone, as he always has and will be.
m e m p h i s i can't recall that last day of sun, curtains closed and sitting with the lights out, an uncertain emptiness surrounds me. FIRE III; BARAQEL AND LEBANON
