Dancing in the desert, blowing up the sunshine Baraqel did, actually, win the genetic lottery. Though he’s in denial, because technically he hates his father and goes around pretending his father is Alshain and not some sociopathic (but nevertheless somewhat impressive, if you’re into the whole scales-and-insanity thing) Nightmare. But it could be said that maybe he’s earned his keep around here a time or two. He smiles at Alerion – if you can really call his mischievous little expression a smile, as the sentiment is really more like “Hey y’all, watch this,” than anything altruistic. “Now that I’ve recuperated from the devastating blow my delicate male ego has taken by being called a female name,” he says, with a pause then and a cruel glint in his amber eyes, “I’m Baraqel.” Oh, he can feel the eager pulsations of Maximus’ water – the look in Baraqel’s eyes dares him to relent to it, to reach toward Baraqel’s Fire which slides willingly behind the lashing menace of Lightning. “I’m also Commander of the army. So when I discover whether or not you have any talents aside from flinging pretty words around, I’ll probably remember what the hell your name is.” he shrugs a golden shoulder, still maintaining that careless half-smile which falls away into a more serious, thoughtful expression. “Until then, you can be nice, or you’ll hurt my feelings. And then I’ll blow you up.” He says it completely frankly and with no hostility at all – there is barely-veiled amusement in his amber eyes and in the Lightning which quivers, not threateningly, but almost laughingly around him. He hasn’t met anyone positively determined to piss him off in a long time. This bodes well. In some sickening and ultimately destructive way, Baraqel is happy to have this new recruit along. Which is not to say Baraqel won’t blow him up. Who knows? Maybe whats-his-face water-boy will sleep with Alerion. Baraqel is such an excellent wingman. GLD.
