I WANT TO MAKE YOU MOVE, BECAUSE YOU'RE STANDING STILL Yeah, Baraqel is just about the quintessential Bad Influence. He’s the disaffected rogue with the motorbike and the matches and he’s very eager to share his devil-may-care philosophy with anyone and everyone around him. Which necessarily means that his being Commander is going to be bad for civil relations. However, when it comes to learning how to fight, Baraqel’s tactics work quite well. The average opponent doesn’t do much in the way of fight back when they’ve just been blown up. And about that girlfriend thing… well, he has a kid. Cyan. Except Baraqel and Cyan have a strange relationship – Baraqel is much more of the irresponsible uncle than the father, and Lebanon, Cyan’s mother, has been AWOL for awhile now. They were never together. Not really. They were…intrigued by each other. Kindred spirits. As far as a functional relationship goes, Strandwolf probably has a thing or two to teach Baraqel – Baraqel is too distracted, too unpredictable, too…well, insensitive, really. He’s a jerk. Baraqel is alerted to Strandwolf’s presence by the sound of an explosion, and he saunters toward his pupil with a smile. “Strandwolf!” he calls, his amber eyes somewhere between roguish and jovial, “You look badass.” he says it with an appraising nod, taking in Strandwolf’s numerous battle-scars. Strandwolf turns his head, revealing the gruesome scars across half his face. “What did you do, blow up a panther!?” Baraqel cries, smiling. Strandwolf is one hell of a success, whatever he fought. One day, they will face off – it will be an explosive showdown that will probably blow a crater in Blitzkrieg. It’ll be damn fun. Strandwolf speaks of potential conflict. Baraqel shrugs, gazing off in the direction of Desreal and the other realms, where mountains stand in haze, barely more than ridges on the quivering horizon. “Who knows? Something seems to be up in Andarin. I’d rather not fight Solira, if we can help it – my mother’s Queen there now, and I’ve always liked her and my stepfather.” The Firestarter turns back to Strandwolf with a smirk and a devilish gleam in his eye. “But I don’t think any of them would be wise to pick a fight with our army right now. We’ve got more titled warriors than anywhere else.” Baraqel would probably turn warfare into terrorism. He’s like the Big Red Button personified. gld.
