How do you train a dog to protect you? Or is that just part of the protection temperament? When I was watching the trials at St. Helens, it seemed the dogs naturally responded to a threatening person (decoy) by barking and lunging at him/her. Is that trained for or just instinctual in working-protection breeds?
My dogs are not a protection or working breed. I was wondering if it would be possible to train them to react like that? They LOVE people. Not sure that I want to, just curious.
