I usually pray for things like strength for people suffering from illnesses or dealing with grief. I'm a funny kind of Christian. I don't believe everything happens for a reason. I don't believe God gives kids cancer for "a reason." I know people need to feel comforted by that but I just can't imagine good people suffering because God has a reason. I don't buy it and if I'm wrong then who knows what he will have in store for me when I get there! As far as Heaven, I'm a Lutheran so God is just going to let you in if God decides you can come in. That's the way it is...no good deeds,no donations, no promises. If he wants to let you, you're in. Did you ever read The Five People You Meet in Heaven? It kind of changed the way I view Heaven in a good way. It's a short book if you're ever inclined.
