Thank you. No, she's not been once when out walking but then the smells and everything are a lot more interesting, plus not being trained there is a lot of lead pulling going on! The sleeping eating part makes sense as that's when she has tended to go inside, after a sleep. Roughly how long after a sleep or food e.g. dinner, would you take her outside so I don't need to constantly go up and down the stairs to let her out?
Kind regards
Louise

: Hi Louise
:
: For toilet training I would do away with
: paper because your end aim is to get her to
: go outside.
:
: Dogs go to the toilet after feeding,
: sleeping and playing in the main. Start
: taking her out and being with her, but not
: interacting with her, and when she goes
: reward her by telling her how good she is
: and giving her a treat. Ignore everything
: she does indoors so she learns the positive
: association with going outdoors and no
: rewards for going indoors. I also found
: starting a poo pile outdoors really helpful
: as the smells lingers around and they add to
: it!
:
: Does she go when out walking?
:
: Best wishes

: Hi there
:
: I have just taken on a rescue dog who is
: about 10 or 11 months old collie cross. I
: don't think she has had much training and no
: background is known. She is getting a lot
: of walks (on lead and training lead) and
: going out at least every 2hours but does not
: pee outside at all. She pees in the house,
: on carpet in the hall both times even though
: I've put newspaper down in the kitchen.
: Although she heads for the front door, I let
: her out but nothing happens other than
: wanting to play, so I can't tell when this
: is a need to wee or play! Latterly it was
: the former even though we had just come back
: from a 2 hour walk about an hour previous,
: but the other times it has just been to go
: outside and play. How do you get a
: adult'ish dog who has been in rescue kennels
: for 5 weeks to associate outdoors with
: toilet and not inside?
: Thanks, Louise
