Hi Jane,
You were quite right to want to introduce the dogs on neutral ground. It is too much to expect Goldie to accept a stranger into her home without introduction (many dogs will not allow this, even after introduction, their territory is important to them). Tasha is obviously a submissive type, too. You did well to respect the growling and not let it escalate to fighting.
Go back to square one and start walking them together on neutral ground, letting them sniff and interact and get their intro out of the way first. You might still have to keep them separate at home - but not necessarily.
I suspect Goldie was spayed late in life, and this has left her confused hormonally. Might be worth checking her out for her general health - her joints may well be painful if she's been carrying too much weight, and pain often equals anger in dogs.
My site is the one you got here from www.workwonders.org!
Good luck,
Imogen
