This is a very common problem - you are not the only one, so don't despair. You have identified that you are now nervous, and I bet you are tightening the lead, and trying your hardest not to let him lunge. ABSOLUTELY understandable, but just the wrong thing to do. Instead, relax and take a deep breath when you see a dog approaching, and turn and walk in a wide circle around the dog if possible. Dogs curve when they approach each other naturally - headlong approaches are threatening.
