After studing the starter problem and taking the thing apart and testing all componants, all tested good, I was measuring the clearance between the starter and flywheel and discovered a design flaw. The tolerances were too tight so I built a shim and moved the starter away from the flywheel twenty thousandths. That was in November and there hasn't been a click since.

I got the relay from Aaron and I have not had any no start or clicking what so ever( very powerful starting sound). But!!! I hear a funny noise from the starter like two or three clicks after the engine is running? This doesn't happen every time but I do hear it often.

Thanks for the advise dieselwill. I put a couple of washers behind my starter, no more click click! It's been a couple of weeks now and I can't get it to click. Before I put them in, it was driving me crazy trying to start it!! Thanks again worked perfect!!!
