I had the the clutch cover off this weekend and found everything to be in normal operating condition. I was surprised to see a fairly honking Gates brand clutch belt installed. I thought Kazuma was using one of their own. Anyway I did remove the front clutch and belt, then cleaned all the surfaces, checked to make sure all fasteners were secure. Looks good so far.

Good Job, I would recommend that you check the entire machine and make sure all the bolts are tight and use loctite. Some people have found their control arms loose. The nut on the ball joint even though it has a cotter pin in it may need to be snugged up. Some people have found the screws on their brake caliper loose which I believe is how CV drive axle broke. It looks like I lost one of the bolts in my front brake caliper and the other one loosened enough to allow the caliper to get jammed up in the wheel and locked up the wheel shearing off the CV drive axle. So be warned and check to make sure everything is snugged up. If it is snugged up now be sure and check it routinely every so often.

According to the Kazuma website the gates belt is #6098 and the polaris belt is #3211077

I really appreciate the great feed back. I knew, after that fact of cours, that I should have writen the model # down for the belt but I didn't. I spent most of this past weekend checking fasteners, inspecting the clutch, and greasing zerks I could actually get a grease gun on. I read one of the posts that I thought said something about how to get at some of the more difficult zerks but I can't remember what is said. Maybe replace the zerk or get a different gun, can't remember. I have made some changes to the Mammoth aesthetically to personalize it to my taste and intended use. I will post pics once complete, shouldn't be to much longer.

Belt 3211077 is 40 7/8" long. This belt is longer than gates 6098 (credit to Dan)which is closer to kazumas belt.

I purchase a Gates 6098 belt about a month ago because of the 2 inch deflection I had in the Kazuma belt. It has been working fine for me.

cmsgtsmith, How much deflection do you have now with the gates belt. I replaced mine with a Carlisle and it has about 1 5/8 deflection.

The best I can remember it was about 1 and 3/8 inch. I did not write it down so do not take this as gospel. I guess the thing for me was that I could climb areas that I could not climb before. I got the belt at Advance Auto for about 27 dollars.

Sorry about stating that it was Advance Auto Parts store. The Store was NAPA Auto Parts and the cost was $26.84, and yes, it was a Gates 6098 belt. I rechecked to make sure.

I have a Mammoth Deluxe that was built in April also,I just pulled the clutch cover to check the belt and it has a Gates Powerlink 996 belt,I took it off to check the length and the closest I can figure it is about 39 3/4" long ,about 1" shorter then the Polaris 3211077 belt that I have as a spare for my 700 Sportsman. I have tryed to find the length on the internet but have found nowhere that has it,Maybe someone out there can come up with this info.
