Sorry about that but there are no illustrations to refer to so I used terminology used for Ford disk brake calipers. The rubber plug covers a hole for a pin on one side. The two allen nuts limit the travel on the other side. You need to put the inside nut back in the same place and use the second nut to lock the first one in place after you have changed the pads.
Take both nuts out and the rubber plug. Spray WD-40 into the holes to let the guide pins slide better. You really need an extremely large set of channel locks to compress the piston all the way into the caliper. The old pads are difficult to remove but the new ones are even harder to put in. It is just a lousy design. Maybe someone at a Polaris Ranger dealership can help you change the pads.
