Hi Glenn,
The new dashboard of the mammoth have digital readout, the water temp. is graduated in 5 steps... normally the temp. stay in the middle (step 3), but when I took that long ride I have climbed a hill with a good slope for about 5 minutes in high gear, as soon as I reach the top of the hill the temp. hit the fifth step and the gauge start to flash, so I let it idle for a couple minutes (until the temp. get down to normal) 
I have no other gauge installed to compare, but I have in my toolbox a non-contact thermometer may I use that to compare the temperature ?
If yes where should I take the reading ?
