Hi Max...I havent been on the forum for a while, so I am happy to also welcome you. We all agree that the engine cover and surrounding area get very warm and hot over extended use and some owners (including myself)have used insulated foil to divert some of it...but I have never seen an oil cap melt!!!!! Have you noted what the water temp is when you are on extended runs? The max I ever reached during summer in Florida is 205 deg, but that was under a high speed load and I quickly cooled down when I stopped....typically I run up to about 190 deg...with heat generated like that, i would also have concerns with the gas tank and belts....Anyway keep us posted...
