On October 6 I returned to Hillhouse after the school year had started, so I could get into the library.
I encountered an ancient and friendly librarian named Edna Mrowka who had been there since a few years after we graduated. She supplied me with a pile of Elm Trees and a place to do my work.
I quickly determined the names I needed and then did some poking around.
Strangely, unlike the pristine books from other years, the '65 Elm Tree was filled with autographs and inscriptions. Since I had dated a few girls in that class, I had to see if any of them them had left any words.
Sure enough, Deborah Lurie -- a former girlfriend -- had signed the book.
I was curious to see if I could determine who the book had belonged to.
In the front of the book was the name of its owner, Marilyn Kaplan -- another girl I frequently dated.
