While a Junior at dear old Hillhouse, we were required by Ms. Lowery to write a report on a book re: Spain. Being an energetic student, I procrastinated beyond the due date, and at the last moment proffered a report on 'The Day of Spain' by Jose Contablo which chronicled the life of a poor family in the Pyrenees Mts. Not surprisingly, an A was awarded for my efforts.
At the beginning of our senior year, I confessed to Mary Lowery how I had deceived her and our way of life as we knew it by making the whole thing up.
Needless to say, my assignments were examined with a most critical eye from then on.
Even Virginia Shia remembered my coup at a past reunion. Boy, talk about proud!!!
