You CAN go home again.

Welcome to the ongoing online reunion for "the last great class" of Hillhouse High. Our class was given that impressive honorary title by Emma Ruff, who taught English to many of us, and became Hillhouse principal a while after Bob LeVine was suspended in a grade changing scandal. I've always thought there was something special about our first cohort of the Baby Boom, and it's good to know that Mrs. Ruff agreed. I'm the webmaster, censor, cheerleader, and yenta-in-chief. I pay ten bucks a month to rent this place. It's my class gift.

There is absolutely no charge to participate in this forum, and we have very few rules.
  • Rule #1 is PLAY NICE, CHILDREN. Our class members have survived wars, drugs, divorces, disappointments, deaths of loved ones, and medical problems. Some stories should probably not be told. Be supportive, not destructive.
  • The forum is intended for '64 grads, but I won't throw out members of other classes, as long as they behave. However, kids from Wilbur Cross should stay the heck out! Kids from Amity, Hamden and West Haven can apply for Guest Passes.
  • Please don't say anything too dirty, or libelous or hateful, or promote scams or violence, or post other people's email addresses without their approval.
  • Unlike the old days, ties are optional. Facial hair is OK. So are blue jeans. Skirts should be no higher than four inches above the knee. Public displays of affection are permitted and encouraged. Smoking is not. Don't burn rubber on Sherman Parkway; please use Whalley Avenue instead.
  • All stairways can be used to go both up and down. You don't need a pass to use the elevator. Please don't throw trays or silverware in the trash.
  • Lunch still costs just 35 cents. Cherry cobblers are gone, but now you can get tacos and pizza.
  • Bragging and lapses of memory are expected and will be forgiven.
  • Let us know what you've been doing since June of '64. Who have you seen? Who seems to have disappeared? Tell some of the great old stories. Post some pictures, both old and new. Don't be camera-shy. Few of us look as great as we did when we were 18. But some look better.
  • I've written a mostly humorous memoir that includes our time in New Haven. The title is "I Only Flunk My Brightest Students." That's a quote from Crazy Frehse. There are some preview chapters here, and you can buy the whole book at Amazon.com. I guarantee that it's at least 80% true.
