The golden horse was huge compared to the midnight Marwari. He stood around five inches higher than Kreios at the withers, and was heavier, his inheritance from the draft horse in his blood. Kreios was one of those slender desert breeds, not quite a hot blood, but terribly close for all their breeding. Yet Kreios was a creature of war, as were his ancestors, bred for fearsome bravery, with strong legs, able to propel themselves upwards taking all four feet off the ground. As little as he was, he was a sight to see once properly moving. Kreios did not wait long, he didn’t want Kivioq to land a powerful blow; as the slighter horse he had to move quicker and keep ahead of harm’s way. Circling warily for the moment Kreios kept away from the larger horse until the last possible moment, then he sprang forward as if someone had snapped a whip at him, heading not straight on, but in a curving manner so that it was difficult to tell whether he was headed for the forelegs or the side, his curved ears lying back along his neck.
The last leaping stride, unbroken from the others in looks until the last second, brings Kreios into Kivioq low, though a slight rear, aimed into the area between barrel and stifle, beneath the loins. It was a spot that if hit right could cause pain or internal bleeding if Kreios was true to his aim and lucky in the power that he threw behind it. Kreios was not about to wait around, however, and threw his head and shoulders back, wheeling in the direction of Kivioq’s head, better that than towards those powerful hindquarters, he wheeled around with agility, to put space between him and Kivioq. As a parting blow the dark stallion bucked, aiming for the underbelly beneath the loins and all the sensitive organs that were not protected by the ribs, but then he was gone, fleeing for the perimeter to again go circle Kivioq from a distance.
((Very short for me, but I don’t have much time and I’m going away for a few days. I know I have no defenses up there, but I can’t very well do defenses until I’m attacked, so there are only two attacks up there.))
