To 'enroll' in basic training, simply start a new post requesting a teacher with BASIC in the subject line. If you do not get a reply within a couple days, post at the OOC board; depending on activity level, someone may just not have seen it.
This is character-to-character training, so all teachers must have an active Bronze or higher character in order to teach. You can get approval from Nat or Holly to teach with non-Warrior characters, as long as you play or played a horse with Bronze or above.
Lesson Plan: After a teacher has taken on a student, they will begin a mock battle, with two attacks and two defenses in each. How long the mock goes on is up to you and your teacher. Remember to strip your posts down to basics - these will not be judged. All commentary and feedback should be verbally communicated to the student DURING the mock. Neither participant is allowed to use elements or supers. This is to hone your raw fighting skills.
Students must take damage as normal but teachers do not have to. This is to benefit the student when they are fighting with an injury. Teachers are allowed to completely evade an attack if it was made too slowly or if it is too implausible. Teachers may also counter, if the student chooses a move that places them in harm's way, without it counting as one of their defenses.
The more feedback the better. Tell your students why that attack is not a good idea and give them suggestions on how they could improve it. Make sure your students take proper damage and let them know if they take too much or too little, and always be supportive and never condescending.
Students may have more than one teacher and can stay at this level as long as it takes to get comfortable.
