The steal was for Isra of Ni'Srilan.
It walked for a long time. The sand was hot, and burned its feet, so it travelled in darkness (Name reference - 'Isra' means 'nocturnal journey' or 'to travel at night') and there saw many strange things. It held its breath and trembled as the hungry cat stalked the night (History reference - Isra has met with Hypatia and her lion, Kail, and is made nervous by him. Kail is a variant on Cale, and means 'thin', hence, hungry cat); it watched, wondering, as purity knelt and bent its will (History reference - Sterling has demonstrated to her, to her astonishment, his power over water. In most cultures water is a symbol of purity and purification). The creature was afraid - when the terror reached its height it would puff itself up to look like a giant, or hunch itself down to look like a stone. Inside, though, it was still a soft and frightened thing. (Extra - Isra's character weakness is her paranoia. In this post she forces herself to assume a demeanor she does not possess in order to appear stronger) Lost, it followed the easterling into the rising sun (Extra - Isra has struck up a friendship with Sterling. Sterling silver is widely believed to have taken its name from Easterling silver, an earlier grade of silver used as currency in Germany), there to speak with the devil called despair. The devil was wise and unkind (Realm reference - Iblis, meaning 'he despaired' in Arabic, is the king of the jinn, a race of spirits who haunt the desert. He is extremely well known and is the primary Devil in Islam) and told it with a laugh, go forth and do what it must (Rank reference - Isra is an agent, 'one who acts or does'). Humbled, the creature slunk away.
