Ill is after Lilium.
It’s almost like you’re a broken love token,
With your yellow, bronze and gold.
Lines 1 + 2: Rank reference, name reference, history reference. Love token refers to how Trigger sees Lilium, broken being that she’s broken him. He did’t actually ‘love’ her, per se, but sees her more as an object of obsession. The colours refer to the usual colours of a Lilium flower. The colours also refer to [some of] the ranks of the warriors.
Travel, quest, travel,
Maybe with a cowboy’s lasso?
Lines 3 + 4: History reference. Lilium has been ‘lassoed’ – captured – by the vipers at current. In terms of the quest, she travelled to Ni, her heritage revealed filled a quest, and she’ll be now travelling again. (Not to mention she travelled to find her sire, Ozy.)
Isn’t that how they catch those ponies,
Out there in barren Nevada?
Lines 5 + 6: Harem reference. Barren is usually the best term associated with the desert. Ni’Srilan. And (easily enough) Ill wants to catch Lilium.
You’re a first class ensign,
Leaving party stains on the carpet.
Lines 7 + 8: Rank reference, history reference, name reference. Rank is shown by 'ensign' - usually a reference to the lowest/beginning rank of the armed forced. Also, first class, that being the first above the travellers in her Soliran home (first in class above ensign). Party stains on the carpet refers to the lilium flower’s anthers which leave a gold/red residue on any clothing that comes into contact with it. Also, first class is also a reference to travel, and how Lilium has had to travel much over her life (to find her parents, to find Trigger, to Ni).
Maybe turning things dark
Bringing the deeper side out.
Lines 9 + 10: History reference. Very simply, she turns Trigger into a darker character, making his posts more melancholy and sadistic. Additionally, she herself has turned to a darker side: she’s begun flirting/falling for Raphael, an 'enemy'.
