Before the theme is long gone, I wanted to tell you the story of how Ellowyne came into my life. Back in 2009 I was collecting vintage, porcelain, Candy Fashion and Spin Master Liv dolls. They were all pretty dolls, but they were not very expensive. At the time I was a stay at home mom and in a not very good marriage (but that is a whole another story). I belonged to a couple of doll forums, and on the one side of it people were obsessing with reborn baby dolls, something that didn't appeal to me at all, and on the other it was Ellowyne that was still new at the time. I wanted one of those dolls so badly, but couldn't afford her and there was no way I could convince my then husband to get me one, so I convinced myself that I didn't need her because my couple of Candy Fashion dolls and Liv dolls were pretty poseable and I should be satisfied with them. 2011 and 2012 were pretty bad years for me, as my ex lost his job (for, like, 100's time), so we lived on unemployment money and finally decided to move to another part of the state. We moved several times and a lot of my dolls went into storage, which I lost after my divorce (not Candy or Liv though, who came with me). Things got really bad at the start of 2013, and I was finally brave enough to take my kids and leave my ex. I've come a long way since, I learned to drive (I didn't drive at all), bought my own home and started a wonderful new career as a chef. I couldn't have done all this without the help of someone very special to me, who pretty much "reinvented" me, and has been there for my kids as well since my ex has been out of the picture now for almost 5 years. |
This special person was also the one who bought me my very first Ellowyne in 2015, Essential 7. That is how Tamara came into my life.
She was the one who snagged the very first guy, Brandon. Here they are on Valentine' Day...
She started the Tea Room...
And even became the Mayor of my little doll city (Livdollcity was named after Liv dolls whom I used to have and love, but since 16" dolls took over, I no longer have any, but kept the name Livdollcity in their honour). As a Mayor, Tamara was the one to greet newcomers, like this Goodreau "Secret", Elaina
After she came into my life, I had to add a Pru, an Amber and a Lizette. My first ones were
Gina and Kristina
After that, I felt I needed some girls with painted eyes. And along came
Then along came the OOAKs, thanks to the generosity of our dear friend Lynda. All of these came to live with us from Lynda (thank you so much!! )
I can go on and on forever. Since then my collection literally exploded in a very short time, and what once was thought of an impossible, turned into this and more...
