.. finally wrapping up. If you missed the previous installments on Saturday and Sunday here's a link, if you want to see what happened previously. |
The guest of honor finally arrived! The door of the Diner opened and Betty stepped in with her hands over Dominique's eyes.
When Betty moved her hands Dominique squealed with delight. Betty had told her there was going to be a party and she should wear a fine dress .... but she had never expected a Mardi Gras party.
Ellowyne looked at Betty and said, "Aren't you going to remove your coat?" Betty replied, "Oh, alright. But I feel silly dressed like this."
Betty removed her coat and revealed a beautiful red gown. "Where did you EVER find that?" Gwen asked. "It must have cost a fortune!"
Betty replied, "I found it at 'The House Of Wentworth'. They were having a 'Going Out of Business Sale' and everything was so inexpensive. I can't believe they are closing after all these years of wonderful designs."
Dominique was so excited to hear her favorite New Orleans music playing on the jukebox. And then she spied the King Cake on a nearby table.
Dominique was amazed that her new friends had gone to all this trouble for her and she couldn't stop thanking them when Frank said, "We have one more surprise" .... as a masked person entered the room.
Dominique couldn't believe her eyes when the mask dropped and the face of her sister was revealed.
Dominique was sobbing with happiness as she said, "You have changed so much in the time I've been gone. You are almost as tall as me now, but you will always be my baby sister."
The party was winding down and the final guests were leaving. Dominique and her sister were busy catching up, as the Neville Brothers sang on the jukebox.
Gwen glanced over at a booth near the counter and noticed a young man seated alone, intently staring at Ellowyne. She whispered to Frank, "Isn't that Officer Bennett from Animal Control over there. What's he doing here?" Frank shrugged, but Betty replied, "I noticed him come in a while ago. He's just been sitting there drinking coffee and watching Ellowyne."
The End .... for now (don't you just love a possible cliffhanger)
