To address some issues:
-buy direct from the manufacturer
-buy from a reputable dealer such as Mint On Card, Doll Pedlar, Denver Dolls etc
- if using ebay, the general rule of thumb is if it is a super deal, then it is more than likely a recast. There are a few reputable sellers on ebay, like Jeeryma, and their prices reflect the authenticity. ALWAYS ask if it is a recast
- buy from other collectors with good feedback from sites like Den of Angels, or any of the other resin sites.
CARE AND MAINTENANCE
`limit the sunlight; direct UV can cause the dolls to yellow over time. Many dolls may yellow with age, but the new resins seem to have helped in maintaining the colour
- store them on a stand, or seated. I have had a few of mine fall, and only one has broken (it was his accessory 'panther' skull's fang). Other one was broken was damaged in shipping, and the finger was quickly glued back together
-size and scale options are amazing from tiny 1/8 to 1/3 scale. Most of mine are the 1/3 scale, and range from 63 cm to 71.
-outfits and footwear can be expensive, but you can find many affordable pieces on ebay, etsy and the bjd site. This allows so many option of creating something - I mean someone - totally unique for yourself!
-they are a JOY - I absolutely LOVE mine!
-have learned so much about doll manufacturing from them as I have had to have them restrung, tightened, sueded / glued etc.
