I love the feel of resin material...the dolls have more weight than vinyls and feel less fragile actually. That said...stringing makes them prone to movement that could cause damage...my Evangeline's ankle dented when I tried to pull a boot off and the elastic snapped back. If dropped the wrong way chips or cracks can happen. Broken fingers, nipped noses are also possible. Still, one can sand and glue and hide injuries with paint far better than with Vinyl.
I love being able to change eyes and wigs...it is amazing how you can have a virtually new doll with these quick changes. Still the first time I pulled the eyes out of the most expensive doll I had ever owned almost stopped my heart. It was worth it in the end and became easy very quickly.
I am still so scared of trying to restring...although I can visualize how to do it and there are countless videos on YouTube to help, I can't imagine having my doll in pieces and risking never getting her back together again. Someday...
I hope this helps, Judy. If you like a challenge they are great in so many ways and they are really fun to play with but they have their challenges as well.
