Thanks for the note Steve. I finally got all of the photos from the weekend posted to the website. I took over 900 photos all together that day, although I only wind up posting about 10-15% of them on the Internet. It was a real challenging day for those of us taking photos between the rain in the late morning and then the sun in and out all afternoon. If you look real close at some of the practice photos, you can actually see the rain falling. I had talked with Mike earlier in the week and he felt we really needed to get this in on that Saturday because it was supposed to rain again during the next week when we had the rain date scheduled. If we didn't get it in, he was afraid we may not have any state champions qualified for the US Plowing event over Labor Day up in Ohio. It turns out he was right because the forecast for this coming weekend calls for rain on Saturday and Sunday. I'm glad your father enjoyed himself. Show him the photos on the website. Who knows, he may even be in some of them. I'm not sure when you left, but he probably would have enjoyed the 7 horse hitch. Unfortunately, Charles didn't hook it up until late in the day after many of the spectators had left. Next year, we are going to get him to hook up his big team earlier in the day while there are still plenty of folks around to see it. By the time he hooked up, the news folks and most of the spectators were gone.
We are having a casual field day with no judging involved on May 3rd up in north central Kentucky near Williamstown, about 10 miles off of I75. This event is sponsored by the Kentucky Draft Horse and Mule Association and will probably draw a lot of teams. I will be posting direction on the website real soon. If you have the time, it will be a fun day.
