A bit of background
One of my other hobbies is ancestry research which was a diversion during lock downs and a change from model boats, although I started before lockdowns. My grandmother on my father's side came from North Uist and most of her family went to Canada in the 19th century. However her younger brother didn't leave until 1923. I remember meeting his widow who made regular visits from Canada when I was a child. Finding her was a task in itself.
I knew he'd gone on the Metagama from Stornoway on Lewis from ship's passenger lists, why not Glasgow had been query to be looked into at a later date. But the puzzle was solved by an article in the Scotsman Nespaper last week. With the family connection and a story like that adding a model of her to my collection seems a reasonable objective.
