The only new mini-ship models to reach Antics in the last month have been UK made.John's model shipyard has come up with 3D-printed kits of some of the Pedestal Convoy ships that were requested in Dockside postings: Ohio, Almeria Lykes, Deucalion and Glenorchy and the US K-class blimp which was delayed by technical problems from a previous Antics order has also arrived. I have yet to build the new kits but you can see pictures of the ones I have completed and painted on the Antics website (www.shipmodels.co.uk). Because the kits have been bought and made for my own collection, they have often been adapted from the kits and John's provision of spare turrets in the box of warships helps with AA variations over time. Over the last few days, I have completed models of Tirpitz (in 1943-44 splinter camouflage which covers the Spitzbergen raid, the X-craft attack and the first 617 squadron attack), HMS Renown in 1942 disruptive camouflage and the Graf Spee in November 1939 camouflage with a superimposed B-turret and second funnel from Plastruct components.
All five Coastlines/John & Sandy's mini-diorama quayside castings are completed and the latest models will go into Antics over the next few days. The second of the former Mercator models (Kamerun) is with Dave B for moulding.
