Apologies for the delay in doing this.
Typical July Welton – fairly well attended – not as good as I would have liked but not as bad as I feared. Unfortunately we were one stallholder down for family reasons and Brian Robinson (Deep C) wasn’t able to make it for health reasons. I think people enjoyed it – I’ve had no violent complaints and it seemed pretty brisk for a lot of the time. (A thought as to how brisk it was – I took a change of clothes – intending to be rather smarter than I was when we did ‘set up’. The change was still in the car at the end of the day).
The wargamers seemed to enjoy themselves – they always do – refighting ‘Pearl Harbor’. I have to say this was (to me) a real ‘Wow’ factor. Pearl Harbor was represented in (approx) 1/2400 scale by off prints from Google Earth printed on ‘A0’ size paper – very impressive.
None of the above should give the impression that I’m complacent – all shows could use more through the door and more stallholders. (Unhappy experiences shared with other stallholders at a 'Toy Fair' last Sunday support this). Unfortunately times have changed since we first did Welton (& Nash Mills & Theale). Over recent years I have kept thinking that this year will be the last but the ‘advice’ from stallholders has been to persevere and carry on.
My Thanks, as always, to all the stallholders and to everyone who helped with ‘set-up’ and ‘knock-down’, and especially to Nev, who provided my tea that night and gave up his ‘contestant escort’ job for the day. He’s a good lad is Nev ...
I’m pleased to say that the 2013 Welton Mini-Ship Show will be on Sunday July 28th July. All bona fide UK, European & Worldwide dealers are automatically invited!
