Thanks for your kind offers, my friends! The massive failure was in the hard drive, but then that is the most important part isn't it? The data can possibly be retrieved but the expensive may be prohibitive for me at this time (massive doctor bills!). The estimate for data recovery was a low of about 440 GBP to a maximum of 2,000 GBP if in fact the data can be recovred at all. I actually had a backup external hard drive that I thought had all the files safely backed up on. When I attached it to my new computer yesterday, I only had about 6 gigabytes left (out of about 500) that had actually transfered correctly to the external drive. They were mostly word files. I do have the rough draft of the Eagle Book, and Chris Daley Publishing has the masters of the photos for the book as well as the final draft. What is gone is all the photos I had of the Foundry (where Eagle was born), the box illustrations and photos of countless Eagle and other ship models that have appeared on the web over the last ten years. For example, I had photos of all the of Vulcan and Eagle aircraft boxes. There was a lot more lost than just the Eagle information. All my new photos for a different book are now gone, too. That may now mean the death of the other (non-Eagle related) book. Ah well, we have all been there haven't we?
Don
