I don't dispute your comment about Campbeltown/Buchannan- it is, as someone said, that the MOD and the media(generally) have lost interest in the GB Armed Forces and although we can 'joust' over things like the 'ownership' of a worn-out (Hague - Destroyers for Great Britain - refers to her 'poor serviceability')ex-US destroyer whose crew gallantly rammed a dock gate with her, the bulk of people just aren't interested (or allowed to be interested).
I completely agree with your (& Jeff's) comments about carriers - I suspect that we got them because a certain former PM (sorry, Prime Minister) thought he'd get the 'right of centre, defence minded' vote by building them. (Apologies - politics have no place here!)
