I remember the Cunard Funnel branding. It would have originated in the late 1950's (1959 or in the run up to Christmas 1958). It was the practice in those days to send samples to toy shops to whet customers' appetites. The trouble was that the shop assistant had to explain to youngsters that they couldn't actually buy the models that they could clearly see in front of their own eyes! Mini-ships were too expensive for the average collector even then and I stopped collecting after buying Jutland, Sefton & THLV Shambles because Eagle kits were better value (kits were not liable to Purchase Tax!)
