X & Y turrets were Caesar & Dora in the German Navy. The upper turrets were slightly shorter on the Hipper class cruisers (something that Airix failed to notice) and that gives the steeper slopes on the turret faces that can be seen in photos from certain angles. I don't know if it was done to save on topweight or to cut down the armoured length. It might have been a political decision to convince the experts worldwide that the ship had been pared down to comply with treaty limits. It is noticeable on the Neptun model.
Just an aside, my Graf Spee arrived from Atlas this morning!
