A quick note but ABP (Associated British Ports) Silloth is celebrating its 150th anniversary in August.
Over the weekend of 8th/9th August there is a programme of events round the docks with historic ships, lifeboats, ASR helicopters, etc.
For reasons which I don't really understand I'm 'standing' with the 'Convoy' stall both days, so if you live in the NW, and fancy a day out, and a chance to buy some models - this might be the place to go. (Bernard McCall of Coastal Shipping - well known to Welton [& Theale?] visitors will also be there. Coastal Shipping is publishing the history of the port - apparently they are very pleased with the way it has come out).
There is a webpage, based on the press release at
http://www.photrek.co.uk/silloth.htm
We have talked about taking the hobby to people and I think this is a good opportunity to do it.
Tim
