My apologies to everyone expecting a reply to their emails. I'm now back home after spending a month travelling in the far north. I should have the mail backlog sorted by tomorrow. Internet access can get a bit expensive once you pass 70 degrees latitude so I've had to wait until I can use my own computer. Sorry to have missed Welton and having a chance to chat to old friends.
I didn't find any models for sale, which was a bit surprising when you consider how Norway is so sea and ship orientated. (Unless you count all those tacky gold plated plastic Viking longships in the souvenir shops). But I spotted a Pilot "Kong Olav V" in a museum in Flåm - not for sale, although I did try. It was fascinating to visit the Altafjord and see the Tirpitz anchorage. The temperature rose to a balmy -15 that day. I can't imagine how those German sailors felt being stuck in this bleak spot for all those years.
