Hi Gary. The Manchester Liners casting was quite flat on arrival but I've recently noticed a very slight "lifting" of the bow. It's hardly visible - only about 1mm - and I've assumed that's due to my use of acrylic paints. They touch dry very rapidly but continue to cure to complete hardness over a period of several days. If the paint on the hull bottom is applied slightly too thickly, it can cause a slight warp. It's an effect I've also noticed on a few castings from other makers. I have a Mountford destroyer in resin that's slowly gone banana shaped, but it has taken a couple of years. One or two of my Jordan resin kits show the same tendency over a long period of time. M34 Korea has developed a reverse curve and now looks distinctly hump backed, despite being perfectly flat when new and unpainted. Long, thin hulls seem most likely to develop a curve. I'd always assumed that any cured resin would be totally inert and only become misshapen due to some external cause, such as exposure to excess heat or, as in my case, an over-enthusiastic application of paint.
