Hi John,
The casting is very sharp and the old paint is best removed with a Nitromors or Polystrippa clear gel paint stripper which usually contains methylene chloride. On no account use a sodium hydroxide stripper as this can attack the zinc in the mazac casting metal. Remove all plastic parts first (funnel?) and wear rubber gloves. Scrub the model in a glass bowl with an old toothbrush and washing-up liquid when done. A wooden cocktail stick helps clear paint from corners. Wash and dry thoroughly before painting.
