I am glad that people are posting. These points are valid. If only about 30 girls are interested in basketball, they still deserve a fair chance to showcase their talent and have a coach that truly UNDERSTANDS the game. I am not saying that Matthews wouldn't be a good coach. I just believe that a neutral person would have been a better selection at this point. I know a young Padua student who played previously and said she would now tryout since Tobin was gone and a new coach would start. When she found out it was Matthews, she decided not to tryout after all. Padua needs to promote an all around young lady. The girls are there for academics but you still have some girls who are seriously interested in the sports in addition to a good education. Padua if it true probably only posted on their site so they could say they posted but knew all along they would hire Matthews.
