[ Galaxie Forum Full-size Ford, Lincoln, and Mercury ]

When posting a question about your Galaxie or other Ford (all are welcome), BE SURE to tell us what it is, what year, engine, etc so we have enough information to accurately answer questions.

My Galaxie is laughing at me and I must admit it really in funny. Posted by Daze on September 22, 2009, 12:59 pm 174.44.38.124 Yesterday was the last day of driving the car for the season. I went and fill the gas tank, added the stable aditive, and decided to take it through the touchless car wash to get any grit off of it before her long winters nap under a car cover. I have not washed the car that way before and was a little concerned about leaks, so I made sure all the doors but the drivers door were closed tight and that the windows were up. I got in line at the wash bay, punched in my prepaid code and decided to open and shut my door one last time to insure it was sealed up tight. When I did that the window roller broke allowing the regulator to come loose from the window track and down the window went with a loud thud. Lucky for me the window did not break, but I was not able to get the car washed. The whole thing really is funny in retrospect. If it aint broke..... modify it anyway!!!! I've put new rollers and such in my black car windows, but the drivers side seems to be sticky when you start to roll it down. I think the linkage is binding? Once you start it, it works fine. It does always seem to be the driver's side that wears out, but that is because the driver's side typically gets used way more than the other doors and windows.  Post a Response
