painting chassis Posted by jamie on August 9, 2009, 4:01 pm 199.234.90.149 Hello everyone. I was going to be getting ready to paint my frame and chassis soon, and wondering what paeople have used. Currently my frame is pretty much rust free. I have heard about POR 15 and also products from the Eastwood Garage, but was wondering if anyone here has heard of people just using Rustoleom/Tremclad. Chassis Black can go on light rust and paint, just be sure it is cleaned. Miracle paint works on heavy rust, after you knock off all the loose scale. It is NOT UV protected so you need to follow up with paint. I've used rustolium over it no problem. If you don't have heavy rust you don't really need the POR 15 stuff, just get some rust converter and shoot primer.  Post a Response

Re: painting chassis Posted by bigiron on August 9, 2009, 7:05 pm, in reply to "Re: painting chassis" 96.239.131.66 on the 62 convertible frame we did we sandblasted to remove scale and rust.then primed with an epoxy primer and after it dried we sprayed utech system 200 with a flattening agent to reach the satin or semi-gloss finish.remember if you wait too long between primer and paint you will need to scuff the primer to make the paint stick...jason  Post a Response
