When posting a question about your Galaxie or other Ford (all are welcome), BE SURE to tell us what it is, what year, engine, etc so we have enough information to accurately answer questions.

Brake Light Nightmare Posted by Pete on July 28, 2009, 9:13 am 168.68.129.127 Just thought I'd share a problem I had this spring in case anyone else experiences this problem. After pulling my '65 Gal out of storage, I noticed I didn't have any brake lights. I tested and traced the wires all the way back to the plug-in under the dash, then (thanks to an on-line wiring diagram) up to my blinker switch of all things. The wires went up the steering column to the plastic blinker switch (after half disassembling my steering column), where the connection was riveted through the blinker actuator switch. I wasn't getting power through the rivet. I pulled out the switch, did a little cleaning, and used a punch to tighten up the rivet. That took care of the problem, but what a pain. What I thought would be a quick fix ended up taking up most of a day, but at least I was able to fix the problem. Has anyone else encountered this?  Post a Response

Not alot of people know that, but since there is only ONE bulb for stop/turn, it has to and it is definitely one place to check. Glad you got it figured out, as I know my '64 t/s switch is like $100 . It's a bit laxed in returning sometimes, but not worth paying that kind of money to replace it(yet).  Post a Response

Mine is just kinda limp and doesn't always return fully(usually making a brake light non working on one side). I try to "adjust" it to the middle after a turn, but there is hardly any detent left after 45 years. I suppose I could steal the one out of the wagon as it surely doesn't get used anymore. Bulb is good. I suppose I'm going to have to retrace the wiring again. Most likely that bad connection in the blinker switch again. Here goes another half a day shot in the A**  Post a Response
