and have taught my self to weld. on the lap joints I laid down a nice bead, but on the but welds I connected each piece with lots of little spot welds, like you would on a body panel, to make sure I did not burn through. Today I will clean up the welds with an angle grinder. I am not going to completely remove the welds just nock down the high spots.
If it aint broke..... modify it anyway!!!!
