I really don't know if they will rub the inside of the rear quarter when I go over bumps because I have never driven the project or parts car with them on. It rolls fine, but I have never driven the parts car.
A little history here. My very first car, when I was 16, was a 1970 full bumper Camaro RS with BFG 60 series profile tires on the front and back. They were awesome tires, but when I hit a big bump I would get fender rub on the front tires. I later fixed that problem when I bought a set of Cragar SS rims and went to a 70 series width. No more fender rub.
To make it simple, yes, I will try the tires and rims I have. If they rub, then I will try a lower profile and go down from a 70 profile to a 60 profile. According to the specs, a 60 series in the same width tire is 1.8 inches less in diameter. That may not be enough though. I might also go to a 225mm width instead of the 235 and that will "tuck" the wheel under the wheel well another 0.2 inches.
In a perfect world I would wave my magic wand and increase the backspacing of my rear wheels to 4 or 4.25 inches but I would lose a bit of that "sweet" deep dish look.![]()
