Jay, the trim is aluminum. The difference is it is anodized. The anodization protects the aluminum from corrosion but also does tend to get milky white with age. You can get the grim off as you see but to bring it to a shine you have to get the anodization off. Big hassle and a lot of work. Also once you do you need to keep it polished or it will oxidize and pit.
