bolting the body to the frame

i just dropped the body back on the frame of my 64 galaxie convertible. i am replacing the old bushings with new ones from concours parts. the problem is, with all the new bushings on the mounts, some of them are not even close to touching the body. my question is, do i start from the front, back or middle of the body, and use shims where there are gaps? the old mounts were all different thicknesses, but would like to make it right.
