Chris, sounds like you and I have the same kind of car, 1966 Galaxie 500 with a 289ci and 3 speed cruisomatic trans.
I just dropped my tank about 2 months ago and used an Eastwoods kit to seal it after I cleaned out all the rust. I was not impressed with the Eastwood kit but I guess it did the job OK. Now that I have done one, I guess I have learned what NOT to do and can share some advice if needed.
Getting the rust out of my tank was not easy. I used Muriatic acid from the local Lowe's Store.
Now the part I have been waiting to get to. I have a parts car, and so I have a spare tank.
I think it is in usable condition and I feel pretty sure it does not leak. Where are you located?
