is if you install a new sending unit make sure to calibrate it with the gage before you install it. This is done by running a jumper wire from the sending unit hookup wire under the car to the front of the car so you can hook it to the sending unit and see the gage. Then use a jumper wire to connect the sending unit body to ground. turn the key to the acc position and hold the sending unit in the position it would be in if it was installed in the car then see what the gage reads. should read empty. if you lift the float it should read full. on some unit you need to adjust the arm slightly to get it to read accurately.
