Daze is right, repairing a tank and buying a repro are about the same.
From my interchange book, you can use the tank from a:
66 to 68 Ford
66 to 68 Mercury
67 to 69 T-Bird
Your tank holds 25 gallons...so don't try to remove it if it's full!!!! LOL LOL
like Daze said, disconnect you fuel line and wiring first abd you probably will have to remove the screws holding the fuel inlet pipe to the body where your gas cap is. I think it's 4 screws. This is just so that you can wiggle the inlet pipe a bit while it diconnets from the tank as you're lowering it. Am I right so far Daze?
There's a rubber ring gasket where your sender goes onto the tank. It's probably good to replace it. And since you have the tank out replace the sender filter. The part # is D1AZ-9A011-A.
1965 is when the tanks were put in vertically so they have a tendency to rust along the top. Crap gets up there and sits on the top and erodes the tank.
By the way if the gauge don't work it's probably because the float on your sender is leaking and full of fuel.
Hope this helps.
